Description 

Watch Tower

Throughout the four days, the area reported the fewest number of species. Swallows and Martins began descending from the Watch Tower on Day 3. The smoke from Uruka may be one of the factors causing Swallows to leave the area.

AEC

Assam Engineering College observed a wide diversity of birds despite modest numbers. The area was dominated by ducks and other waterfowl. Along with the waterbird flock, a hybrid of Gadwall and Falcated Duck was observed.

Place

Description 

Pamohi

It is the only region that has been recorded beyond the Railway track. Waders such as sandpipers and stilts dominated the area. The neighborhood is surrounded by warehouses and enterprises, and the water quality is poor.

Dharapur

It was noted as one of the most diversified areas, with observations of the Common Starling and Baikal Teal. Despite the fact that waterfowls dominated the area, the number and diversity of birds included a large number of non-aquatic birds too.

Chakardoi

One of the most diversified and bountiful species were recorded. The region was dominated by waterfowls, pipits and wagtails, and swallows and swifts, with dramatic decrease of Swallows and Martins on Day 3.

Boragaon

Storks, waders, and grassland birds occupied one of the most diversified areas recorded. On Day 3, a significant number of ducks and other waterfowl were counted.

Azara

The area is ideal for watching large numbers of Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, Egrets, and Black Kites, including the migrant subspecies Black-eared Kite. It also has the most Oriental Darters (Near Threatened) recorded. It was also the only location where Black-headed Ibis were recorded.

Analysis

The 161 species are distributed on seven locations in the Ramsar Site. In each location, birds are essential indicator species, and long-term monitoring can be linked to the study of habitat and climatic conditions.
